Another great painter: Karim Hamid «

When we were in NYC a few years ago, walking around Soho somewhere, I happened into a gallery and saw some paintings by Karim Hamid. Holy Moly this dude can paint. The compositions alone bring tears to my eyes. Anyway, the new paintings make me think, “Oh geez, why does everything have to be about sex?” But then, of course it does, right?

Jennie Ottinger at Johansson Projects.

I saw this show this month at Johansson Projects in Oakland. Something about these paintings remind me a lot of the painter Vuillard and the Les Nabis movement. I love them.
