3-Hour Figure Study. Acrylic on Canson paper. Today I met up with a group of fine painters at Firehouse North in Berkeley. I haven’t worked from a live model in a setting like this in years. It’s like exercise, I need to get back in shape ‘cause it’s good for me. Next time, I’ll make myself a little viewfinder or something so I can work on my composition instead of plopping the ol’ model right there in the middle like she has nowhere else to go. I feel good about the paint application, but, even though she was sitting upright, I wish I’d done more with the composition to make her appear less stiff. Unfortunate! Still, there are worse ways to spend a Tuesday.
